Newfoundland and Labrador Angel Network (NLAN) popular
We are proud to facilitate the linkage between local entrepreneurs seeking early stage capital and local angel investors. This Angel Network helps bridge the capital gap that exists between start-up and later stage funding i.e. venture capital.
An identified challenge in successfully accessing early stage capital for entrepreneurs is a lack of investment readiness. NLAN provides investment readiness mentoring, training and support services to companies to offer them the best opportunity for success when they present to the Network's member investors.
NLAN is a member of the National Angel Organization (NAO). The National Angel Organization (NAO) is the Canadian voice of Angel investors dedicated to promoting best practices and advocacy for Angel investors.
Okanagan Angel Network popular
This Network consists of experienced technology entrepreneurs who meet monthly to hear a selected number of short business presentations by nascent technology entrepreneurs. This is not a forum style of event - it is private and informal. Between 20 and 30 angels typically attend each meeting. (Do not confuse the angel network with angel forums which are held periodically). The objective is to make initial introductions with a view to having interested parties subsequently meet in private. There are no agents, brokers, or institutional representatives. Angels invest their own capital - not other people's money. Occasionally, other investors, such as early stage VCs or government providers, are invited to attend as well.

Angel’s Perspective:
The key risk factors associated with angel investing can be reduced by:
- syndicating sufficient funds to cover the early stage requirements
- performing due diligence on the management, products, and markets
- advising the company on corporate structure, governance, and operations
- involving the venture capital firms in the seed round
- facilitating portfolio diversity
