Default Online bulletin board scams... like Kijiji and Craigslist...

I know this isn't entirely business oriented... but many business people hang out on these sites during boring days, so I figured I would throw this out there...

There are several common scams going on these days with dogs (specifically bulldogs) and other similar things... appear on Kijiji or Craig's List as super cheap, and usually accompanied by a "sob story"... only to eventually tell you that you need to wire money to some African country, and your animal will be on its way... of course it never arrives.

As with any wire-transfer based scam, you can never get your money back... so beware anything that is unfamiliar and involved wiring money. These people will even talk to you over the phone or email... and usually seem totally legit. I came real close to succumbing to this scam... and I'm an internet savvy businessman.

Thanks for the heads up, FatMasterZ.

Just a few weeks ago, a friend of mine noticed some expensive birds advertised online for a great price. Maybe that was a similar scam?

I think in that case, the notice was taken down before he could contact the "seller."
