While the business owner knows his or her business better than anyone, not everyone has the expertise to communicate the specifics of their business in terms and format a particular audience prefers. This is especially true in technology related, and "new invention" businesses. A mechanical engineer, for example, may create an amazing invention. However if his business plan doesn't have a financial plan with carefully thought out cash forecasts, the business plan may never get into the correct hands.
The same way business owners need to know their limitations of operating their business, they also must acknowledge some parts of the business plan are best written by someone with a different expertise.
